Donated to the Library by Carolyn Staley from her gallery "Carolyn Staley Fine Prints". Carolyn Staley has owned and operated an art gallery for 30 years (1983-2010?), first in Pioneer Square at 313 1st Ave. S and then later adjacent to the Pike Place Market that specialized in fine Japanese prints. She developed an international reputation with clients from all over the world. In the course of her career she purchased a number of reference materials about Japanese printmaking and history. The Carolyn Staley Japanese Woodblock Print Collection contains over 800 titles covering most of the history of Japanese printmaking with concentrations in the woodblock printing era. The majority of these materials are rare, out of print, and in fine condition. There are notable catalogue raisonnes of important artists.
