Amy Brashear’s take on Truman Capote’s true crime novel, In Cold Blood, of the quadruple homicide of the Clutter family in Holcomb, Kansas in 1959 is outright jaw dropping and a great fictional take on a classic. Brashear has allowed the reader to experience the gruesome murders of the Clutter Family and the going-ons of the small town world of midwestern America. The story is told from the perspective of Carly Fleming a “friend” of Clutter family member; Nancy Clutter. Carly Fleming is a young woman with a Nancy Drew investigative sense and no care for the breaking of the law. Carly doesn’t care for committing a felony in order to uncover the mystery murder of the Clutter family. In conclusion, I rate this novel 4 out of 5. - @BiggerPictureReviews of the Hamilton Public Library Teen Review Board
