This movie hasn't aged as well as I expected it would, but it's still very good. It's a nice, light comedy. For me, all of the "But he's not Greek!" started to wear a little thin this time around. I'm glad I rewatched it prior to seeing My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2, its creatively titled sequel. While I don't think 2's story is one that needed to be told, Nia Vardalos did a wonderful job of writing the characters' lives 14 years later. With the sequel, I appreciated the closeness of the family and how they had become much more tolerant, and I was impressed that everyone, even very minor characters, had returned for it. I recommend having some Greek food on hand if you are planning to watch either or both of these movies. You will be hungry for it. My Big Fat Greek Wedding is rated PG for sensuality and language.
