A dystopian story that takes place in the ruins of North America, which is now a nation called Panem, which includes a Capitol surrounded by 12 districts. The Capitol harshly controls the other districts by forcing them to each send one boy and one girl from the ages of 12 to 18 to fight in the TV broadcasted Hunger Games, where only one boy or girl can remain alive at the end of the duel to the death. Katniss Everdeen, a 16-year-old girl, shows her selflessness when she volunteers to take the place of her sister in the Games. Luckily, Katniss has the survival skills and has been close to death before. But will she be able to make the right choices to survive and put her life over love? I really enjoyed that this book was a dystopia and it was an action-packed story. However, some parts of the story were complicated and some were a little bit gory. But overall, a must-read for action and dystopian lovers alike!
