This is quite different from the usual Forsyth fare: No spies here, although there is certainly no shortage of villans and subversive scheming going on. The arch-enemies here are neo-Nazis. His hero this time is also quite different from the robust types often created by Forsyth; he's a somewhat nebulous second-rate journalist who seems to be getting himself involved way over his head in a situation for which he is ill-equipped. And his motivation for undertaking such a risky enterprise remains a mystery, causing a reader to wonder if he's just a dilettante or if there's more to the story; there is.
