Having lived in New York, this film is a perfect embodiment of the view that the city is essentially the largest performance space in the world where many of its citizens are part of the cast in an ongoing performance. Tim Levitch has a unique perspective on this city that he communicates in his own agitated style. If you are open to his worldview, you should be intrigued by what he has to say if not outright entertained. It was a cult film for awhile, but its reputation must be growing. Lastly, it needs to be said that the film came out in 1998 just three years before 9/11. The footage and scenes involving the WTC are particularly sad and sobering given the subsequent historical events.
