The Mathews Men

Seven Brothers and the War Against Hitler's U-boats

A fascinating story, and one with broad appeal - both the Merchant Marine sailors who went to sea (and went repeatedly *into* the sea when their ships were torpedoed), and their families' experience at home. The people from this seafaring Virginia county experienced the complete range of WWII on all seas of the world, from Cape Hatteras to Murmansk to Malta to the a-bomb airbase on Tinian. Some of the details become repetitive, but a good yarn!
