I didn't know just what to expect, but I'm a fool for Viggo. Pearls of wisdom & some cautionary points set against just how much free rein & honest discussion to do with children. To my taste is he never talked down to the children, he tried to guide. At times I felt a bit too often with a heavy hand (the sheer cliff climbing) felt close to abuse in proving a point. There was a feeling of fierce love & extreme dedication to the principles being taught. These children will grow into adults well prepared for natural disaster. I wonder just how they'd adjust to society in general - take the scene where the family verbalized on over-eaters. It's well known Americans & much of the other societies don't get enough exercise & know too little about the natural world. The book learning so well displayed in this film is exceptional, but some common sense seemed a bit light. Fine acting all around, gorgeous scenery, some humor & sadness well balanced. Liked the aspect in describing the manner of dealing with death, but I'd seriously question getting away with a pyre.
