I found this book difficult to get into. Part of the problem was that the promotional blurb misrepresented it. It's not a mystery novel. The mystery is tangential and really only relevant in terms of character development. The other part of the problem was that I found some of the quirkiness quite forced - as if everything got thrown at the wall to see what would stick (the lizard that's not actually a lizard, the eccentric billionaire who loves the lizard that's not actually a lizard more than he loves his kids, the car named Harold, the Chewbacca romatic fan fiction writing best friend, etc. etc. etc.). Considering that, I really only got into the book about halfway through. Once it stopped trying so hard and settled into being a character study of a girl dealing with pretty serious anxiety, it got much better. I enjoyed the later parts of the book.
