This is such a fun read! I finished it in two days. It reads very cinematically. Grady Hendrix has a knack for keeping humor and brutal gore in a fun balance. I would recommend this to anyone who wants a thrill and a quick/easy read. I…

To anyone who has ever been stuck in the endlessness that is retail and customer service and can handle something delightfully creepy... this is for you. To anyone who has found themselves lost, turned around and disorientated in an IKEA…

Amy had to drop out of college because of financing and now she’s stuck working at Orsk, America’s answer to Ikea. She doesn’t fit in with the company culture and she’s only doing the minimum to get by. When Basil, her manager, asks her…

A quick spooky read with a fun concept that leaves the reader wanting more. I throughly enjoyed it and the whole haunted "Ikea" theme. A good weekend read.

Fair ghost story about four hapless adults who work in a furniture store who investigate paranormal activities. Told in Scooby Doo (minus a Scooby) like fashion. My favorite thing about this book was the brilliant presentation. It’s served…

A horrifying trip through an Ikea knockoff store featuring some of the greatest fears of our time; ghosts, asylums, and minimum wage.

I don't typically read dark horror novels, but the creative design of this book caught my attention, so I wanted to give it a try. What a fun and unique reading experience it was! It is probably best read in print form to get the full…

A traditional (but fun) horror story in a unique, creative setting and format. I think it was a solid 3-star story with an extra star for the sheer creativity and quirk. While the plot was a bit thin in some places and spent entirely too…

If you want to read an IKEA parody that is a humourous horror story, this is the book for you. The format of this book is similar to their catalog – the furniture, names, descriptions and pictures preceding every chapter were just as much…

I very much enjoyed this horror novel set in an IKEA imitation store. I had originally thought it was a horror comedy because of the fake furniture store catalog format but it ended up being satisfyingly grim and suspenseful.

Initially, I thought it was going to be a good scary story. It had some pretty good elements - suspense, characterization, true-to-life setting. Unfortunately, it became too far-fetched —-not that spooky stories generally lean towards…

I actually liked this book a lot more than I thought I was going to. It is written in kind of a fluffy style that makes you wonder if it's really going to be that scary. But as the story progresses, it gets creepy and makes you wonder…

Original horror story... I would love a sequel!

I picked it up for the same reason everyone else probably did: the Ikea-esque cover. What I got was a really good horror story. It's a fast paced, easy read, that's much better than you'd think.

Everyone's already done a bang-up job describing the sensibility. Gleefully wicked, esthetically pleasing to look at and of a kind. Retail therapy lol. I gave a copy to my son for Christmas, too.

It was exactly what I needed after some the serious stuff I’ve read lately. The opening had me going “YAY! Zombies!” and then giggling as I realized what kind of zombies they were talking about. Everything in Horrorstör was well-described,…

It was interestingly presented with an Ikea catalog reminiscent cover and furniture descriptions at the start of each chapter. Inside that glossy cover, Horrorstor is a dark and twisted take on the retail experience. I appreciated the…

A fun read! It's terrific when a constant reader can find a new story - yes, this borrows from a number of genres, but it's fresh, funny, and scary. Enjoy!

You start reading this book thinking it is not going to be a really scary book. I mean, it takes place in an IKEA knock off store. How scary can it be? And then all of a sudden you are sitting on the edge of you seat and can't put the…

Horrorstör is a genre-bending mashup of haunted house horror story, and social commentary humor. Amy, the protagonist, is working a dead-end retail job at this Ikea-knockoff box store chain, stuck in a spiral of debt and feeling adrift in…

Grady Hendrix offers a refreshingly different spin on the horror story. The clever book design by Andie Reid adds to the fun.

I'm not a big fan of straight-up psychological horror, but mix black humour with creepiness and I'm hooked.

If you love everything Ikea, and wonder what it may be like to be in that huge showroom at night after hours, this is a must read. A funny parody turns into a nightmare when a few employees stay behind one night to find out why they have…
