The child carefully brings the star home and takes care of it every night, following her mother's words that "it grows well under moonlight." Even after the child grows up and becomes independent, the star firmly stays by her mother's side as she picks tangerines and goes fishing. In the meantime, the star grows bigger and bigger, and finally rises and prepares to head toward the sky. The 'star', which reminds us of the chicks that used to be sold in front of the school, is a name that symbolizes everything we miss. The author delicately shows how the hearts of the mother, daughter, and star deepen as they carefully draw the time they spend together. The scenery of the seaside village in the story also unfolds vividly. The haenyeo who scoops up a star that has fallen from the sky into the sea, the residents who buy fresh seafood, and even the puppies and children running around, convey warm excitement through the lyrical images of the starlight and the night sea in the four seasons of the seaside village drawn with soft colored pencils.
